SEECCC 2026 Nominated Charity

The Club Committee decided at its October meeting that the Club’s nominated charity for its 2026 activities will be Prostate Cancer UK. A South Holland author, who is also an SEECCC member, has put pen to paper to outline his very personal battle with prostate cancer in a book being sold to raise money for two charities. Under the pen name of Colin Clarke, the author said he gave the whole project a lot of thought before embarking on documenting his diagnosis and treatment for stage 4 prostate cancer. “At first I wanted to keep my condition quiet, as I didn’t want to re-live the whole thing every time I spoke with someone, but an event soon after my diagnosis changed my opinion, and I have become something of an evangelist; urging or even nagging men of a certain age to get their PSA checked,” he said. Colin said he didn’t even know what PSA stood for (prostate specific antigens) when he was diagnosed. He had no idea what the level should be. So he is sharing his journey to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and Prostate Cancer UK. The book is priced at £5.99, but you can get a copy posted to you and donate to the Club’s nominated charity for 2026 at the same time by sending £10 (or more) to our Chair & Treasurer, Joy Mann, at jmann@seeccc.co.uk
